5344 W. Lawrence
Chicago 60630

The Gift Theatre was founded in 1997 by Michael Patrick Thornton and William Nedved, students at The University of Iowa. The original idea for The Gift was to create an ensemble of actors who would train together and eventually perform in an underserved Chicago neighborhood. The theatre's name comes from Jerzy Grotowski's Towards A Poor Theatre, which was heavily influential to Thornton and Nedved. The 50-seat theatre features state of the art equipment, a classy lobby, and convenient parking.
