Spareroom Theater in Chicago

Located on North Avenue just west of Western Avenue in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, the spareroom started as a symbiotic relationship between a group of performance artists who needed rehearsal space and an available warehouse space that needed renters. Formerly a painter's studio, the rough, dirty and imperfect space was tentatively embraced by a small community of artists. The space currently gives a community of artists the opportunity to rehearse, perform, exhibit, and develop work on their own terms.
