The Steadfast Tin Soldier Reviews
Chicago Reader- Highly Recommended
"...Like any great adventure/romance, the obstacles are many, and highly improbable, making space for hilarity. The cast is seasoned to perfection (standout performance by Adeoye playing the Tin Soldier), and the orchestra adds such a festive mood to the show that you might want to bring along multiple generations to wonder at this charming holiday-inspired gem."

"...It is a storybook saga and deals with love. With the use of five actors, four musicians, some cleverly designed puppets (Chicago Puppet Studio) and some great choreography (Tracy Walsh), Ms Zimmerman’s direction is pure Hans Christian Andersen, holding every audience member ( young and old) spellbound."
The Fourth Walsh- Highly Recommended
"...Creator and director Mary Zimmerman masterfully spins Hans Christian Andersen’s story of a broken toy into a tale of resilience. The discarded soldier (played by Adeoye) goes on a journey of discovery. He falls for a ballerina (played by Kasey Foster). He battles a Jack-in-the-box, a sewer rat and a big fish. A steadfast Adeoye, with one leg missing, hops, rolls and pulls himself through a series of unfortunate mishaps. His adventure is a string of random sequential events that bring his life full circle."

"...“The Steadfast Tin Soldier” follows a small tin soldier through a whirlwind of adventures including falling in love with a ballerina, getting swallowed by a fish and befuddling a rat working in the sewage system’s customs department. The story itself has great charm and enduring life lessons, but it is Zimmerman’s use of wordless storytelling techniques that make this a larger-than-life spectacle."

"...So be steadfast, overcome your aversion to downtown crowds, and see “The Steadfast Tin Soldier.” It’s a reminder that sadness is part of the best art, and sometimes what makes you tremble is what you really need."
