Around The Town Chicago - Highly Recommended
"...Barry is handled to perfection by Robin Trevino, Dee Dee by Christine Pfenninger ( who has an amazing range),Trent by Elijah Warfield, Sheldon ( the kinkiest of all kink) is played by Corey Mills and Angie by the voluptuous Jessica Means. Emma's girlfriend is played by the lovely Chloe Hayes, whose mother is unaware of her relationship and is of course, the villain on the PTS (Abigail Adjei-Perberg). The principal, Mr. Hawkins (Drew Longo) turns out to be a lover of Broadway and loves Dee Dee, so he turns out to be on the side of the good guys."
Chicago Theatre Review - Highly Recommended
"...The score for this show is full of wonderful songs. The actors assembled at Sardi's open the show, boasting in song about how playing Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt is truly about "Changing Lives." But they'll soon discover there's a lot more to making a difference than appearing in a musical. Emma sings a moving ode to her own strength and courage entitled "Just Breathe;" and later Alyssa sings a gorgeous, heartfelt biographical ballad called "Alyssa Greene." Later, Emma leads the ensemble in her beautiful original song, "Unruly Heart," which immediately becomes a viral sensation. The song turns into an anthem on the internet for anyone who feels unseen. And then together the two young lovers treat us to the touching romantic duet, "You Happened.""
Chicagoland Musical Theatre - Highly Recommended
"...Heartbreak, hilarity, bullying, transformation, tenderness, social justice, acceptance and love are just a handful of emotional roads traveled in a show that reminds audiences what Broadway musicals are supposed to be. It's particularly important these days with the ongoing political hatred thrown in the direction of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies."
