The Lion King Reviews
Around The Town Chicago - Highly Recommended
"...The story of The Lion King holds indelible life lessons. At its core, it's a story about moral values. It's about living our lives in a purposeful, meaningful way. Essentially, this is a powerful tale about facing the realities of responsibility, and what happens when responsibility is placed in the hands of those with bad intentions. It is also a wonderful, coming-of-age story and the essential mentoring role of a father in a patriarchal society."

"...My sincere advice to theatergoers is do not, if at all possible, miss this sensational and spectacular new National Tour of one of Disney's best-loved musicals. Whether this is your first or your fifth time visiting Pride Rock, audiences of all ages will find enchantment and wonder in this new Touring production. Broadway's praiseworthy, multi-accoladed adaptation of the wildly popular 1994 Disney animated film roars into Chicago for another pleasing and pleasurable visit. It's the perfect family show, filled with vibrant color, unbelievable creativity, splendor, and excitement and, above all, love. With the musical's powerful themes of family fidelity and environmental balance in Nature, this Circle of Life continues to dazzle and enchant. It's a must-see production with "Hakuna Matata," Timon's advise for a No Worries life, that you will never, ever forget!"

The Fourth Walsh - Highly Recommended
"...The show starts with the iconic cry of Rafiki (played by Mukelisiwe Goba) gathering the herds to welcome the new lion cub, Simba. Throughout the theatre, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, birds and others parade onto stage to "Circle of Life." This first 15 minutes is worth the price of admission. The stagecraft has humans and animals coexisting in an illusion of movement. It's absolutely breathtaking. Between the puppet pageantry (Julie Taymor and Michael Curry) and the searing score (Elton John and Tim Rice), the show doesn't merely start, it erupts in vibrant joy."
