"...Corti’s production is sufficiently honest to tease out all of these themes, not in a radical way but in a fashion that elevates the title and the characters. I’ve seen choreography for this show that mines every cliche going, but Tor Campbell mostly goes in a different, more exploratory direction, even if he can’t get any of his guys to walk up walls."

"...Folks want to know if the show lives up to its title, which is British slang for "everything" or "the full package" (pun intended). I can report that the big-hearted, deliciously naughty revival playing through Oct. 6 at Aurora's Paramount Theatre does, courtesy of the brief, artfully conceived finale from director Jim Corti and lighting designer Heather Gilbert, who uses backlighting to excellent effect."

"...Jim Corti's ensemble is solid from top to bottom (even if the tops and bottoms aren't Adonislike-the nudity here is very brief and mostly implied). Rebecca Hurd as Pam, Jerry's ex, Jared David Michael Grant as his best pal, Dave, and Liz Pazik as Jeanette, the brassy showbiz vet who just shows up with her piano to help "Hot Metal" find their beat and their joy, are particular standouts in this meat-and-potatoes heart-warmer of a show."

"...Back in the last century, a film was made detailing steel workers, who were out of work and due to their desperation decided to become male strippers to make some quick money. The film was written by Simon Beaufoy and the American “musical” version has a book by Terrence McNally with music & lyrics by David Yasbeck. The story takes place in Buffalo and the workers are faced with desperate measures. Under the skilled leadership and direction of Jim Corti who has put together a wonderful cast of players, you get to see “The Full Monty” as never before!"

"...Paramount has done it again and their new season is off to a wild start with this R-rated musical. Jim Corti has staged and refined the show, making it into a very funny, yet warmly-conceived production. As the curtain fell, the audience immediately leapt to their feet in appreciation and delight. THE FULL MONTY reminds us that a person’s self respect is every bit as important as his financial and biological needs. The musical isn’t just a toe-tapping tuneful, “Big Ass Rock,” it’s a poignant story that’s as contemporary as today’s headlines, full of pumping contemporary tunes and beautiful, haunting ballads. A trip to the Paramount Theatre is, as always, well worth the visit."

"...As a director, Jim Corti has a magic touch. It doesn’t matter whether he is tackling a huge historical spectacle like Les Miserables or a powerfully energized, very personal show about a family in trouble like Fun Home or Next to Normal. Corti at the wheel means quality on the stage. The Full Monty, the Buffalo-set adaptation of the 2016 British movie, is a perfect example of what I mean."

"...Do not fear. If you are looking for a big, bawdy, unabashed comic revival—with all the twists, turns and pelvic thrusts you can imagine—then Paramount Theatre’s “The Full Monty” is the show for you. Sure, it’s suggestive and saucy, but beyond the boisterousness, it’s a moving story about building self-esteem through dedication, hard work and the support of friends and family. Adapted for the stage by Terrence McNally with a lot of heart there are surprises galore to be found in the music and lyrics by David Yazbek. Add in a terrific cast and you’ve got a winner from top to bottom!"

"...It’s time to head out to Aurora once again to see the new production of The Full Monty, a musical that certainly puts heart, humor, and humanity on full display. With Terrence McNally’s sharp, empathetic book and David Yazbek’s jazzy but unmemorable score, this stage adaptation of the beloved 1997 British film is a great night of theatre that leaves audiences laughing and surprisingly inspired."
