The Enormous Crocodile
Chicago Tribune - Somewhat Recommended
"...Developed and directed by Emily Lim, the hour-long show is filled with puppets (it began at the tail end of the Chicago International Puppet Festival) and it is billed as a musical (with music by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra, and additional music and lyrics by Tom Brady), although the singing is limited in scope and quality and the musical score pretty much emanates from one on-stage dude with a lot of keyboards and such."

"...Toby Olié’s puppets are faithful to the original Quentin Blake illustrations. The catchy bops might make up for the absence of suspense or character development, if you can stand the volume. (One young audience member left early, hands over ears and grown-up in tow)."

"...Developed and directed by Emily Lim who enlisted puppet designers Toby Olié and Daisy Beattie along with costume and set designer Fly Davis,to create an immersive environment of ever changing art and action that will captivate audience members of any age. And we the audience get an action of our own to do, enlivening and emboldening us to get involved. In the end, coming together as a community ends the danger and terror and the plot wraps up in a very funny way."

"...The Enormous Crocodile by the Roald Dahl Story Company is adapted from Dahl’s 1978 book about a greedy crocodile that wants to eat children. This gigantic creature is rumbling through the jungle, looking for its prey. But it really doesn’t seem like an evil monster as it’s played with whimsy by Chelsea Da Silva, so no fears about kids in the audience being terrified. Children in the audience love the Enormous Crocodile and so do adults."
