Athenaeum Theatre
2936 N. Southport Chicago

Ever since it premiered in Moscow in 1877, Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake has continued to enchant audiences, inspiring countless performances and earning a reputation as "the ballet of all ballets." Now, with spectacular sets, glittering costumes and the rarely seen Waltz of Black Swans, the Russian Grand Ballet brings this beloved classic to Chicago. Swan Lake tells the hauntingly beautiful story of young lovers Siegfried and Odette, who's been captured by an evil sorcerer and transformed into a swan. Siegfred only has a short time to save his beloved before she's cursed to remain a swan forever, but standing in his way is the sorcerer's daughter, the beguiling black swan Odile, who comes to tempt and distract him away from his quest. Featuring premier dancers from some of Russia's elite choreographic schools, this stunning full-length production graces the stage of Athenaeum Theatre.
