St. Scarlet
1439 W. Jarvis Ave Chicago
Saint Scarlet by Julia Jordan lets us in on two days in the lives (and in some cases the deaths) of the members of an Irish-American family called the Cummins in back-country Minnesota, where three siblings are left to deal with each other now that their mother has passed away. Ruby, Rose, and Seamus not only have to contend with each other over their mother's house, her possessions, and her funeral arrangements, but must also battle for their own identities and for the truth. Add Vinnie to the mix--a mysterious stranger who comes bearing years worth of love letters from "Scarlet", and who believes he's here to propose to Rose--who may or may not even know who he is--and you have a snowbound quartet with no phone, no instructions, and no answers.
