"...Good intentions and likable characters aren't enough to salvage Lani T. Montreal's play about gender identity and immigration hassles among a group of Filipino friends in Chicago. Giau Truong and Helen Young's direction for CIRCA/Pintig feels aimless, and on opening night some of the actors still seemed to be struggling with lines (a situation not helped by missed sound cues)."

"...as a play featuring Filipino-Americans as its major characters, Sister Outlaw gets diversity points for focusing on an underrepresented ethnic minority in America's media landscape. Oh sure, there's a gay Filipino character in the series Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World (plus anything featuring out comic Alec Mapa) . But I don't know of many shows with Filipina-American lesbians."
