"...All over town, Chicago actors are re-inventing themselves as directors. E. Faye Butler, who has starred in many a holiday show over the years, has made that switch for the Drury Lane Theatre’s new staging of “Sister Act,” the much-produced 2011 Broadway musical based on the 1992 caper movie that starred Whoopi Goldberg as a lounge singer who hangs around with the wrong crowd, witnesses a shooting and finds herself hidden by the police in an inner-city covent."

"...While some solos may occasionally sound off-key, the vibrant energy and compelling narrative always consistently shine throughout this production. The cast of eighteen, which includes understudies, features exceptional performances by Rachel Carreras, Amanda Walker, Lorenzo Rush Jr., and Kelvin Roston, who played Curtis Jackson. A role he played at Mercury Theatre. The nuns in this play are funny and fabulous, baby, and worth a trip to Oakbrook this holiday season."

"...SISTER ACT is an old-fashioned musical that doesn’t break any new ground. But Drury Lane’s production is warm, humorous and big-hearted. The show is also a celebration of seeing the world through the eyes and experiences of others. The musical’s a solid tribute to the deep sisterhood and girl power inherent in true friendship. E. Faye Butler’s production sparkles with laughs, offers great music, plenty of heart and a whole lot of soul. An affable cast led by Rae Davenport, Michelle Duffy and Lawrence Flowers join together to “Spread the Love Around” in a musical comedy that’s fantastically “Fabulous, Baby!”"

"...Standing tall and proud, the nuns of Queens of Angels cathedral have the world listening. Laughing, too, in the high-energy musical “Sister Act” now playing at Drury Lane Theatre. The accomplished director E. Faye Butler has assembled a superbly talented company backed by a stellar creative team including music director David Fiorello, choreographer Kenny Ingram and costume designer Leon Dobkowski. “Father, Son and Holy Smokes,” this is one fantastic show!"

"...The show catches fire after the introduction of the Queen of Angels nuns and remains bright until the end. It’s a great ensemble, and each nun gets her moment in the spotlight. Special mention to Amanda Walker’s sweet postulant Mary Robert, Rachel Carreras as bright-eyed and eager Sister Mary Patrick, and Meg Thalken as the delightfully acerbic Sister Mary Lazarus."
