Anybody in Chicago who is interested in Brecht's style of Epic Theatre, with its ballads, free verse, and themes of social injustice, would do well to see the latest collaboration between director Max Truax and composer Nicholas Tonozzi. It's funny, thought-provoking, wildly inventive, features a brilliant ensemble, and is free."

"...The cast itself is made up of universally strong character actors. Each member manages to be distinctive and charming without stealing focus unduly. Maryam Abdi and Ann Sonneville are particularly charming in their roles as farmgirl-turned-prostitute Nana and procurer Madame Cornamontis, respectively. Both bring a wry sense of humor and a raw, earthly vocal quality to their roles. Their scenes together are some of the comedic highlights of the play and each one’s solo song is a visceral experience."

"...Director Truax is masterful in keeping track of the madness. Mayes stands out in style and voice as Iberin, as does Chapman as the privy councilor and Cappuccio as the attorney (wearing a fedora over his round rubber headpiece). Sonneville and King are also strong performers."
