"...as Dog & Pony Theatre gives Sheila Callaghan's 2010 play a treatment that, a decade or so ago, might've been called postmodern. I'll stick to calling it skillful, intriguing, and morbidly funny. Shock artist Trevor is working on her latest installation piece--which may or may not involve a bioweapon--under the surveillance of an increasingly unhinged FBI agent. There are minor questions of absent stakes and unclear motivations in Callaghan's script, but Devon De Mayo's tremendous cast and provocative staging cancel them out."

Heather Townsend channels Desperate Housewives as the next door neighbor, Andrew Goetten as the bounces off the walls as the teen, Dan Smith is appealingly shabby as Trevor's academic husband. In the lead roles, Lucy Carapetyan is an edgy and cagey Trevor and Sorin Brouwers is perfectly buttoned-up and overwrought as FBI Man."

"...Roadkill Confidential isn't a straight-up serious affair, though it's very funny. Hysterical, in fact. A dark levity balances the tense proceedings, allowing for laughs followed by pin-drop intensity. The characters are all hyper-caricatures, as well, but not so extreme as to make them unsympathetic. Trevor is the tormented and self-absorbed artist; Trevor's husband is the typical over-analytical, insecure academic; the FBI agent beats his chest all-American and wears American flag boxer shorts. They all have very human secrets, though."

"...Dog & Pony’s compelling production, continuing its long association with company member Callaghan, insinuates the audience in this paranoiac environment, situating the FBI man among us as he tries to make a case against Trevor. De Mayo’s design team creates a world that’s both off-kilter (as in Ben Kolak’s dizzying video design) and jarringly up-to-date (at Friday’s opening, sound designer Stephen Ptacek had spliced in news reports of Bin Laden’s demise five days earlier). It’s hard to say if the fascinating whole is searingly intelligent parody or something altogether more serious; the uncertainty is admirable."

"...Dog and Pony’s Roadkill Confidential just might be the weirdest amalgamation of pretentious meaningless we’ve encountered on a stage. Ever. Despite what the various program notes would have you believe, playwright Sheila Callaghan’s work is neither bold nor invigorating. It is simply a tedious barrage of grainy, often visually indecipherable video footage looming over a messy and ultimately pointless pastiche of verbal non-sequiturs and bizarre, modern dance-like interludes that seem to have no connection with the rest of the production."
