Radical Futures at Factory Theater

Chicago Reader - Somewhat Recommended

"...B.Z Florida's ambitious new sci-fi play, Radical Futures, premieres at the Factory Theater under Kayla Menz's direction and references beloved genre writers, including Ursula K. Le Guin, Harlan Ellison, Isaac Asimov, and Octavia E. Butler. It also teases out the various subgenres within sci-fi, including cyberpunk, dystopia, and straight-up alien and robot stories. (Not that the lines don't cross frequently among those subgenres, of course.)"

Around The Town Chicago - Somewhat Recommended

"...The play is basically constructed as follows: Six scenarios are intercalated between scenes featuring Neil and Warren serving drinks to each other. In the first scenario (that is, after the first drink), a man hires two women (Annie Beaubien and Hannah Mary Simpson) to kill off his girlfriend (Squeek Rangel). There is some humor in the way that this scene is devised, but for me, the vignette had nothing to do with science fiction or the future. The second scenario is about a career counselor (Simpson) who is unhappy in her job. This is revealed when she has trouble dissuading a college woman (Rangel) not to go into the same field as she did."
