"...While this infusion of strangeness might have left Herrera pregnant (sorry) with possibilities, her resulting script for Teatro Luna, the all-Latina ensemble, turns out to be more confusing and frustrating than fully formed. And despite the presence of seven wonderfully animated and appealing actresses, and a clever if too recessed set (by James Ogden) that is full of off-kilter windows and platforms, co-directors (and performers) Maria Enriquez and Miranda Gonzales have done little to clarify and focus the material. In fact, "Lullaby" is really just a collection of sketches linked together by a vague sense of absurdity, disorientation and depression."

I hope the kinks get worked out, but it doesn't seem fair to anybody that before the show opened Teatro Luna was calling it a "world premiere.""

While they have changed their leadership, the majority of these women were there from the start and they all have their hearts and souls into what they do- and that is to create or help to create stories dealing with being a Latina; dealing with racial/ethnic/cultural/sexual identities and with this year comes a new exploration of where do Latinas fit in today’s society."

"...The cast’s dexterous ability to shift from tale to tale, within the framework of the mother waiting for her daughter to reawaken, is probably the production’s greatest achievement. Herrera’s tales shift uneasily—but hardly frighten or horrify. At first, the introduction of a traditional harlequin figure at the start of Lullaby seems artsy and pretentious, but each reappearance of the harlequin sets the scene on edge, with peril suggested by the uncertainty of its presence."
