Scoundrel Time
1020 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue Chicago
Lillian Hellman's Scoundrel Time, in a world premiere City Lit adaptation by McCabe and directed by Adrianne Cury, is a memoir both acclaimed and controversial. In 1952 Hellman refused to name names before HUAC—though she volunteered to talk about herself. She was blacklisted for years as a result, but lived to tell the tale—her way. When Scoundrel Time was published in 1976, it was greeted by both praise and condemnation, equally strong.
