Evanston's Savoyaires present "The Mikado (my-KAY-doe), formerly know as The Mikado (mi-KAH-doe)," an ingenious reimagining of what for more than a century was Gilbert & Sullivan's most popular operetta. Featuring all of Sullivan's infectious music and virtually all of Gilbert's hilarious English dialogue and lyrics, the production is set in a totally make-believe locale that audiences should find just as remote and exotic as Victorian audiences found Gilbert & Sullivan's fanciful version of "Japan."
