Mrs. Doubtfire at Nederlander Theatre in Chicago

Broadway In Chicago has announced that the smash-hit musical comedy, MRS. DOUBTFIRE, adapted from the much-loved film, will come to Chicago next year. The celebrated production, described as "wonderful, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud funny" by the Manchester Evening News and helmed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, is set to run at Broadway In Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre for a brief engagement from February 27 to March 10, 2024.

The producers today unveiled that Broadway leading man, Rob McClure, who won over audiences and critics alike with his portrayal of Euphegenia Doubtfire, our favorite Scottish nanny, and earned a Tony Award nomination in the stage musical MRS. DOUBTFIRE, will reprise the acclaimed role as the show embarks on its North American Tour this Fall.

Adding to the star power, Maggie Lakis, an acclaimed Broadway actress and McClure's spouse, will embody the character of Miranda Hillard in MRS. DOUBTFIRE. Lakis's impressive performance credits include roles in notable musicals such as Something Rotten! and Avenue Q, both on Broadway and on tour.

MRS. DOUBTFIRE AT NEDERLANDER THEATRE IN CHICAGO

"Mrs. Doubtfire" is a musical comedy based on the 1993 film of the same name, which itself is based on the 1987 novel "Alias Madame Doubtfire" by Anne Fine. The story revolves around Daniel Hillard, a struggling actor who loses custody of his children in a messy divorce. In a desperate attempt to stay in their lives, he creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire. As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father. The musical is a hilarious and heartfelt story about holding onto your loved ones against all odds.

The musical was created by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, who provided the music and lyrics, and John O'Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick, who wrote the book. It premiered at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle in November 2019 before moving to Broadway in 2021. The musical has also been performed in Manchester and is set to open in London's West End in May 2023.

MRS. DOUBTFIRE, which ended its Broadway run on May 29, 2022, received six nominations from the 2022 Outer Critics Circle, including one for Outstanding New Broadway Musical. It also garnered two Drama League nominations and a Tony nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.
