My Fair Lady at Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago

The North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady, directed by Bartlett Sher, will come to Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre from June 28 - July 10, 2022.

Lincoln Center Theater's production of Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady won five Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Revival of Musical. It was also nominated for 10 Tony Awards, five Drama Desk Awards, Best Musical Revival, and three Drama League Awards. After 548 performances, the production that premiered in spring 2018, ended its run at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater.

Based on George Bernard Shaw's play, and Gabriel Pascal's motion picture, My Fair Lady was first performed on Broadway on March 15, 1956. It was the longest-running Broadway musical at that time and won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

My Fair Lady is the story of Eliza Doolittle (played by Shereen Ahmed), a young Cockney flower seller who wants to make a better life for herself, and Henry Higgins (played by Henry Mackintosh), a linguistics professor who is determined to make her into his idea of a "proper woman" and make her look like a duchess within six months. But who is being really transformed?

Ahmed will be making her touring debut as Eliza. Julie Andrews originated the role and Audrey Hepburn starred in it later in the film. According to the actress, she grew up watching Hepburn perform the role.

"I remember watching Audrey Hepburn and My Fair Lady and just being fascinated with the story and really with performing," Ahmed says. "And so My Fair Lady was one of my first introductions to this passion that I have inside."

The Lincoln Center Theater's My Fair Lady production was described by The New York Times as "Thrilling and glorious" and boasts a score that includes classic songs like "I Could Dance All Night," "Get Me to Church on Time," "Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "On the Street where You Live," and "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face." It was a remarkable and transformative revival. New York Magazine called it "Enthralling," and added that "Bartlett Sher's glowing revival proves that musicals from another era can still be alive." Entertainment Weekly called it "A splendid new revival of the greatest musical ever written." This is a masterful piece entertainment.
