Riverdance

Few shows have touched audiences like Riverdance, the Original International Phenomenon, now in its 12th phenomenal year.  This thunderous celebration of joyful music, song and dance that has thrilled millions of people around the world returns to Chicago for a limited two-week engagement from April 3 – 15, 2007 at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (50 E. Congress Parkway.

Of all the performances to emerge from Ireland in the past decade, nothing can compare to the energy, the sensuality and the spectacle of Riverdance. Composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McColgan, Riverdance has played over 9,000 performances, been seen live by more than 19,350,000 people in over 276 venues throughout 32 countries across 4 continents.  They have traveled over 500,000 miles, played to a worldwide television audience of over 1.75 billion; sold over 2.5 million copies of the Grammy Award-winning CD (certified Platinum in the U.S.) and over 9 million videos making it one of the best-selling entertainment videos in the world!

Riverdance had its world premiere at the Point Theatre, Dublin, in February 1995, where it opened to unanimous critical acclaim. Innovative and exciting in its unique blend of dance, music and song, Riverdance draws on Irish traditions and the combined talents of the performers to propel Irish dancing and music to the present day and capture the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures. Riverdance, which boasts an international company of 70 performers all performing to the magic of Bill Whelan’s music, now returns to Chicago.

Riverdance returns to Chicago for a limited two-week engagement from April 3 – 15, 2007 at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (50 E. Congress Parkway).  The performance schedule is as follows:  Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at 2 & 7:30 p.m., Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2 & 8:00 p.m., & Sundays at 2:00 p.m.  Note:  The performance on Tuesday, April 3 will begin at 8:00 p.m.
