Jersey Boys

Jersey Boys, the Broadway smash hit, is set to come to Chicago in 2007. The musical about Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, will open at the LaSalle Bank Theatre in October of 2007 in a co-presentation by Broadway In Chicago and TheatreDreams.

Jersey Boys is a documentary-style musical based on the lives of one of the most successful '60s rock 'n roll groups and tells the story of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty.

The musical made its Broadway debut on November 6, 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre and raked in $400,000 at the box office the day after it opened.  The show, which is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and directed by Des McAnuff, won four 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and features the original music of Bob Gaudio and the lyrics of Bob Crewe.

The show continues to sell out on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre where, for the week ending September 17, it had the second highest total box office receipts, only behind the Broadway production of Wicked.

The Jersey Boys national tour will kick off in San Francisco in December 2006 and then will move to Los Angeles in May 2007. No dates have been announced beyond Chicago which leaves open the possibility that the show will enjoy a long-lasting run here.

The musical features their hit songs Sherry, Big Girls Don't Cry, Rag Doll, Oh What a Night and Can't Take My Eyes Off of You, among others.
