Neil Tobin, Necromancer: Near Death Experience Reviews
Third Coast Review- Somewhat Recommended
"...I can appreciate the unique place and approach that Neil Tobin’s trying to take with Near Death Experience—using his preferred medium as a way to open people up to the experience of talking about an uncomfortable subject. I applaud this effort, and my time spent at the show wasn’t wholly unenjoyable. Since it’s a solo act though, I’m not sure I can recommend it, as it seems to lack enough presence and prestidigitation for its asking price."
Chill Live Shows- Recommended
"...As Neil Tobin opens his fascinating one-man show with this line, he poses the question, "You were expecting light, escapist entertainment? Did you read the program?" Immediately, the audience expects a theater-going experience unlike any other."
Picture This Post- Recommended
"...Near Death Experience is perfect for adults who love interactive and site-specific theatre that makes you think. An added bonus, if you are so inclined, is the opportunity to explore the historic Victorian era Rosehill Cemetery."
NewCity Chicago- Not Recommended
"...It’s my experience that folks who believe in ghosts are working through the grief of losing someone dear to them and I would never wish to take that away from someone who needs it. Telling ghost stories and listening to others’ experiences is not wrong. Claiming to have supernatural powers and using that claim to manipulate people is."
