MotherFreakingHood! Reviews
Chicago Tribune- Highly Recommended
"...The show is wry, honest and you'll feel like it cares. And when you're likely paying a babysitter and/or cashing in some precious chips with whoever remains at home, such a delivery goes a long way."
Chicago Reader- Highly Recommended
"...While unabashedly a comedy, MotherFreakingHood! is filled with moments of sweetness, celebrating the bonds of women who help each other through the incomparable journey of parenting."
Around The Town Chicago- Highly Recommended
"...While “Mother Freaking Hood” is perfect for a ladies night out, there is no reason that a couple cannot enjoy watching together. Just thinking about my experiences raising my kids, these scenes brought back number of memories. I was a single parent raising two kids for several years, so I was never a mother, I did share many of the stories and experiences they had, without the childbirth of course."
Chicago Theatre Review- Highly Recommended
"...An excellent way to celebrate Mother's Day everyday, the Chicago premiere of Julie Dunlap and Sara Stotts' gleeful, gut-busting musical comedy makes a great girls' afternoon or night out. Although a lot of fun for men as well, this charming, smart and entertaining adult show brings back memories for parents while it enlightens the uninitiated with the many trials and tribulations that MotherFreakingHood involves. This baby is a real winner!"
Third Coast Review- Highly Recommended
"...The musical is alive and well and takes aim at millennial motherhood in all of its glory. It is so perfect that I went to see MotherFreakingHood! at the Venus Cabaret Theater in Lakeview on a Saturday afternoon. The area is chock full of millennials with hordes of adorable moppets coming from organized arts and crafts parties, Candyality, or a sundae at the Dairy Queen. This is a musical made for the moms who organize those parties and activities."

"...It was Mother's Day, and I could think of no better way to celebrate than to go to the Mercury Theater's Venus Cabaret to see the irreverent, honest, and very funny exploration of the joys, pains, hopes, and fears of women everywhere that is MotherFreakingHood! It was a perfect decision: what I found were moments that sparked specific memories while often making me laugh uncontrollably."
