Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish - The Musical at The Greenhouse Theater Center

Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish - The Musical

The Greenhouse Theater Center
2257 N Lincoln Avenue Chicago

Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish - The Musical tells the story of a rag doll named Eleanor who lives in the magical world of The North Pole. Despite her love for her family there, including Santa, Mrs. "Cookie" Claus, Clara Claus, and the elves - Twinkle, Sprinkle, and Sparkle, Eleanor's very merry Christmas wish is for a best friend and home of her own. Realizing that wishing is not enough, she writes a letter to Santa expressing her dream. The letter opens the door to answering many questions and to the journey which leads to her wish (and others) coming true.

Chicago Reader - Highly Recommended

"...Directed and choreographed by Zachary L. Gray, with music direction by David Fiorello, the show moves swiftly, with only a few smarty-pants interpolations for the grown-ups. Bonzi is thoroughly endearing, but the supporting cast of elves (including Emily Rohm's glammed-out Clara, keeper of the list) provide comic relief and keep the young audience engaged. Special kudos to Cara Chumbley and Claire Latourette's Glimmer and Shimmer, who take us through a series of preshow exercises and games to get the holiday spirit and audience engagement revved up."

Around The Town Chicago - Highly Recommended

"...The production is truly geared for kids to enjoy with their families, and is just 65 minutes in length. NOTE: I think it is wonderful that kids get to experience theater younger than ever, but feel that parents should also be aware that there are others in the theater who find it a bother when a youngster gets fussy and whiney. If this be the case, either wait until they are ready for the true experiences or leave the theater during their problem period. Also, I feel that a mother doing a “feeding” during a performance is unfair to the others seated around them ( and don’t forget, the actors can see you, even in the bright lights). Enough about this. On to the play!"

Chicagoland Musical Theatre - Highly Recommended

"...With a team of expert designers baking love and character into every aspect of this show behind the scenes, Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish plays to the innocence and purity of childhood, promoting audiences to seek connection in a world that continues to complicate. While the musical is not life-changing, it is certainly life-affirming. When deciding where to go for some seasonal warmth and child-friendly revelry, Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish is a no-brainer."

Chicago Parent - Highly Recommended

"...Youngest fans will also enjoy the interactivity - some pre-performance fun and games from North Pole-sent elves is evidence that this cast knows its audience - and the chance for a post-show meet-and-greet with Santa, Eleanor and Mrs. (Cookie) Claus helps maintain high Christmas spirits."
