Dracula Reviews
Chicago Theatre Review - Highly Recommended
"...Directed with style and energy by guest Director Jay Fontanetta, Steven Dietz's version of the vampire myth makes for some deliciously eerie entertainment, and just in time for Halloween. The play spins a melodramatic spell of mystery, peppered with just enough blood and violence for a well-crafted horror story. The terror mounts in Fontanetta's slow build of suspense that shocks the audience with a surprising denouement. DRACULA is an excellent, well-crafted retelling of one of the most popular horror novels of all time."

"...Brightside Theatre's rendition of Bram Stoker's Dracula, adapted by Stephen Dietz, captivates from the opening scene to its climactic finale. Ever since the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola film with Gary Oldman, Bram Stoker's Dracula has fascinated me. It was a delight to see Brightside Theatre's cast and crew brilliantly capture the excitement, romance, and terror of this classic tale. Each professional performer brought their unique talents to the show, creating an unforgettable experience."

"...The beginning of the story begins with Renfield describing Bram Stoker. At the end of the curtain call, Renfield again addresses the audience with remarks about the dark images that everyone possesses. It is chilling and very effective. As a cautionary note, I would not bring anyone under the age of 18. The production runs through November 3. This is the play to see for the Halloween season. Walking out of the theater in the darkness of night, you will find yourself looking over your shoulder every now and then. You've been warned."

"...If you are looking for an eerie and bone-chilling way to celebrate Halloween, but gore-filled slasher movies aren't your thing, take a classier route and check out "Dracula" at BrightSide Theatre-it's a bloody good time!"
