"...Add in a very guileless Ariel, a feisty, legs-obsessed character who first falls in love with a potato masher, from Sarah Kay, a classically princely Eric from young Patrick Johnson and a buff and commanding King Triton, as played by Anand Nagraj, and you have a fun show for all ages, as well as stellar vocal treatments of those great Alan Menken tunes. This “Little Mermaid” really floats along very nicely and is a fine choice for even pretty young kids. Sebastian (Michael Earvin Martin) will keep them in line."

"..."Finally someone did Ursula some justice," was all I could think the moment Sawyer Smith came to the stage as the beloved sea witch. Surrounded by actors as their giant tentacles, Smith was absolutely divine in this role they were clearly born to play. If you take away nothing else from this show, you're certain never to forget Smith's vocal power or their embodiment of the iconic Disney villain."

"...The message of The Little Mermaid, to never give up on your goals and dreams, is still a vital message we should continuously teach our young generational children the glaze among the stars that the entire world is in their hands. You have to have a little Positoovity! Drury Lane's The Little Mermaid is a must-see!"

"...It is the holiday season, and many of our theaters bring in special shows dealing with Christmas or perhaps just family-friendly productions. I can tell you that Drury Lane's production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid" is perfect. While it doesn't reflect the holidays, it does bring family value to the theater. Based on one of Hans Christian Anderson's story ( and the Disney animated film), the stage version with a book by Doug Wright and music by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater is a wonderful look at relationships. The story deals with a mermaid, Ariel ( a super performance by Sarah Kay), daughter of King Triton ( deftly handled by Anand Nagraj) who saves a human, a prince (Patrick Johnson) from drowning."

"...Although the stage musical differs slightly from the popular animated film, this charming production THE LITTLE MERMAID is funny, moving and a spectacle for both the eye and ear. Directed by Scott Weinstein, with solid Musical Direction by Ellie Kahn and a full-sounding pit orchestra conducted by Chris Sargent, the production is supported by a superlative team of artists, both on- and off-stage. This beloved magical fairy tale is just one in a long history of past excellent productions at the Oakbrook Terrace venue. This family musical is perfect for the holidays, and will both teach and entertain audiences of all ages. It’s filled with funny, heartwarming characters, gorgeous music and stunning special effects. The best way to celebrate the holidays and escape the Winter blues is to take the plunge into “Fathoms Below” with Ariel and her friends at the Drury Lane Theatre."

Guaranteed to enthrall patrons of all ages, Director Scott Weinstein assembled a truly talented team of triple and quadruple threats (acting, singing, dancing, puppeteering) who sing the daylights out of the Alan Menken/Howard Ashman/Glenn Slater songbook."

"...Captivating for kids and engaging enough for an adult date night, this production shines with its sophisticated mix of beautiful puppetry depicting all of the creatures “Under the Sea” as well as lighting and sound that brings us right into the briny deep with Ariel, Sebastian and the gang. Many of the glittery, fin-flapping fish come and go up the aisles in a seafaring homage to The Lion King’s beloved parade of puppets."
