Columbinus

Steppenwolf Theatre
1650 N. Halsted Chicago

Mixing fact and fiction, Columbinus tells the story of the Columbine school shootings through the eyes of the teenagers and townspeople involved. An all too timely tale, this documentary-style drama uses text drawn from interviews, public records and the shooters' private diaries to illuminate the realities of modern adolescent culture. The grim realities of the average American high school ecosphere come to vivid life on the stage of the 1700 Theatre in Chicago, as the script co-written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Stephen Karam struggles to understand why two youths in Colorado decided a brutal crime spree was their best course of action.
