"...You do get a bunch of skilled character actors enjoying themselves and camping it up in the period setting. There is a certain escapist sense of fun in the building. Some of the physical comedy, especially a falling chandelier, has its yuks. A few one-liners land. And John Shartzer, who plays Mr. Green, has some inspired shtick."

"...Murder and blackmail are on the menu when six mysterious guests assemble at Boddy Manor for a night they'll never forget! Was it Mrs. Peacock (Joanna Glushak) in the study with the knife? Or was it Colonel Mustard ( deftly handled by David Hess)in the library with the wrench? What about timid Mr. Green ( an incredible performance by the very nimble John Shartzer) . Based on the fan-favorite 1985 Paramount Pictures movie and inspired by the classic Hasbro ( or is it Parker Brothers?) board game, Clue is a board game brought to live action for 90 minutes ( no intermission)."

"...As a frigid Winter winds down in Chicago, those who love the classic board game of Clue will delight in seeing it come to life on stage. Fans of fast-pace, broad and boisterous comedies, such as NOISES OFF and THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, will love CLUE: LIVE ON STAGE. They'll find this farcical murder mystery a must-see. And theatergoers who are devotees of Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes whodunnits, and also have a soft spot in their hearts for the humor of Monty Python, will find this new Broadway in Chicago offering a Drop Dead Comedy to be thoroughly savored."

"...Indeed, with this production's impressive set pieces, lighting, and stage choreography-not to mention its intermission-less wham-bam runtime, and its spot-on setting during American times of distrust, untruth, and turmoil-Broadway in Chicago's current production of Clue-Live on Stage!, at the CIBC Theatre until March 2, is a great escape."

"...These familiar childhood characters come to life for the amusement of the audience. Rustin leans into the lampoon by unraveling complex backstories and nonstop zingers. Director Casey Hushion adds to the hilarity with heightened slapstick and comedic timing. Following the Parker Bros' 'blueprints', Scenic Designer Lee Savage built an impressive mansion where rooms pop out, tables glide in and weapons appear from hidden crevices. Hushion has the ensemble continuously running from room to room. They exert vast energy to get nowhere. The shenanigans exaggerate the urgency of murders-in-the-building and set up a spoof-tastic time!"

"...I’ve covered a local production of “Clue” a few years ago and I remember it fondly enough, but now I can’t help but wonder if this current production–or even the play itself–might be missing a few game pieces. Say, the joke that once held everything together."

"...There have been two murders at Boddy Manor, and the stakes have never been higher. Wadsworth, Yvette, and the dinner guests are becoming increasingly terrified, and no one quite knows where to look. It’s suggested they split up into groups of two to check the rest of the house—a suggestion about which no one is thrilled. However, it’s understood that it must be done, and each individual can only hope their partner does not happen to be the murderer."

"...There’s nothing better on a frozen February Chicago night than a murder in an out-of-the-way mansion, with an eccentric cast of strangers—each with something to hide. Add in a shifty butler who may be a reliable narrator or could quite possibly be a cold-blooded killer, and we’re in business."

"...A high-speed joyride with its single act clocking in at 90 minutes, the stage production of Clue leans heavily into pratfalls and silly gags. When someone asks the butler who designed the Boddy mansion that Col. Mustard (a malaprop-arific David Hess), Miss Scarlet (a sly Christina Anthony) et al have been summoned to by a mysterious blackmailer, the butler Wadsworth answers, “The Parker Brothers.” Because of course he does."

"...Break out your Hasbro-branded notebook, don a monochromatic outfit in your favorite color, and grab one of several household murder weapons because CLUE: LIVE ON STAGE! has made its way to the Windy City, courtesy of Broadway in Chicago. And while the play may be meager fare compared to other recent professional offerings, CLUE is undeniably a well-polished evening of hijinks and hilarity-if audiences know what they're getting themselves into. It runs through March 2 at the CIBC Theatre."

"...The star of "Clue: Live On Stage" is a tight ensemble cast that is called upon to deliver lines of dark comedy with utmost seriousness without becoming sheer silliness. Additionally, their bodily antics and dexterity in being placed in the most unlikely and absurd spatial predicaments make the comedy as physical as it is cerebral."
