"...I've seen pretty much every show Cirque ever has produced. And Daniele Finzi Pasca's superb "Corteo," the latest touring show, which has landed in Chicago this summer, is one of the very best of the tent shows. It might very well be the best, although for many people, the first Cirque show they see is the one for which they feel the most ongoing affection. Still, even for jaded Cirque veterans, there's something special about this show."

"...With its spectacle and grand theater, "Corteo" is the best of all Cirque extravaganzas. Catch this circus while it's here: It won't be back again for two years."

"...Even for those immune to this pageant of acrobatic dancers and tumbling jugglers, there are plenty of "wow" moments (a man climbs a tall, freestanding ladder, two dueling men use a seesaw like a trampoline) and sweet, unexpected ones (a clown holding candles traverses a tightrope, upside down). More carnival of the moon than circus of the sun, Corteo turns morbid reverie into delightful spectacle."

"...Happily, this production created and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca still offers the overall sense of wonder, supported by wild images and weirdly captivating music, that makes Cirque du Soleil so distinct."

"...For those of you who have never experienced the artistically and emotionally vibrancy of Cirque, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure this time around as the troupe takes a more playful plunge into the theatrical world of circus arts. For those of you have seen this troupe in the past, you’re in for a spectacle of fun, comedy, spontaneity and mystery. You certainly won’t be disappointed."

"...For those who, like me, have never seen Cirque du Soleil and, frankly, have grown a little weary of all the Cirque fanatics, I offer this carefully considered critical assessment: Wow. No, really—wow. It’s not just the spectacularly accomplished acrobats attacking the usual circus skills in wholly unusual ways and with second-nature ease."

"...There are so many near impossible performances in this intoxicating show that defy proper explanation that can only be seen to be believed. This is a wonderful show that stretches circus into a theatrically engaging show."
