Black and Highly Flavored Reviews
Chicago Theatre Review - Highly Recommended
"...In case there was any doubt that the cast was having at least as much fun as the audience, they played two more improv games at the end of the show. Their quick wit and good nature made for an interactive night. The audience, it seemed, was yet another cast member. If a night of culture, comedy and camaraderie sounds like a good time, Black and Highly Flavored is where to be."

"...As a longtime comedy fan, seeing a show at Second City has been on my bucket list for years, so when the opportunity to attend Black and Highly Flavored came up, I jumped at it. That excitement, however, was paired with some hesitation: I questioned whether I was the right person to review a show rooted in experiences I do not personally share. By the end of the night, after laughing until I cried, those concerns were completely put to rest."
Third Coast Review - Highly Recommended
"...That sketch comedy tends to be a predominantly white art form is a bit of a “chicken and egg” situation—it took seven years before Bob Curry became the first Black cast member in a Second City Mainstage revue in 1966, and even longer to move away from a sense of tokenism destined to discourage aspiring POC writers and performers."

"...Titled Black and Highly Flavored, this year’s theatrical confection seems bent on completely refashioning what excellence looks and feels like by overloading this year’s revue with all things wonderful. Energy, talent, music and message each immediately zoom to the stratosphere and remain there throughout the night."
