"...Overall, the show maintains a light touch and provides several opportunities for ensemble members to deliver comedic bits. Peter Ruger gives a flamboyant turn as the bougie influencer who converts Minnesota's underground scene into customers for the teens' edible business. RJ Silva also gets a lot of laughs as a customer who gets a little too - well, baked - at a festival hosted by Jane's parents, thus spilling the beans on the whole operation."

"...Again, the basic story is about family relationships, the relationship between friends lies and drugs. That should be enough to spur your curiosity. The play runs about 2 hours and 14 minutes with one 15 minute intermission. I found act one more musical that act two 10 musical numbers in act one and 5 in the second. A few standout numbers that truly help propel the story line were "Best In The Room", "Follow The Recipe", "Get Backed", "Two Worlds Collide) ( to end Act One) and a beautiful piece that ends the play, "That's It"."

"...It’s important to support new playwrights, composers and their works. Fred Anzevino does a great job of this. The production now playing is a good beginning for a show that can still use some work. It’s fun and supports good values, especially painting a fine portrait of an Asian-American family and community. This is, however, a work of art in progress that’s still finding itself."

"...Previously a winning entry in the 2020 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival. Theo is giving Baked its first proper staging with sets, costumes, the works. Even so, the company and writers are putting their efforts into showcasing the raw material itself and asking what changes, if any, it could stand to make."

"...I have always said that there is no real American culture because we are a country of immigrants. The one thing that is a common denominator is the striving to succeed and pass something of value to the next generation. Baked! The Musical explores the Asian-American experience of hard work, success, and the family bond above all. Baked! is seven years in the making and a labor of love with the book, music, and lyrics by Deepak Kumar and Jord Liu, with good direction by Grace Dolezal Ng."

"...Baked the Musical is a cute and likable show even if it does have some problems. It is clear that the second act needs work, and Kupak and Liu indicate in their author's note that they do intend to continue to work on it. Among other things, they need to find an eleven o'clock number that can really elevate the act. (Maybe try moving "Know You the Most" closer to the end?) A good high-energy Act Two song would also help matters, as would making Jane's late decisions more believable. But it's a fun show even as it is, and no one needs to be high to enjoy it."

"...Currently, the theater is participating in the development of Baked! The Musical. "In development" means a production is a work in progress, and that is Baked!, a work in progress. I support these efforts. At the same time, I recognize there's work to do."

"...“Baked! The Musical” at Theo Ubique has all the ingredients of a great show—energetic cast, delightful songs and more depth than your typical trope-filled love story. It’s a sure recipe for success that just needs a little bit more time in the oven to rise."
