Description:

4 Chairs Theatre announces auditions for the upcoming virtual musical production of ISLAND SONG: Words by Sam Carner, Music by Derek Gregor, Story by Sam Carner, Derek Gregor, and Marlo Hunter

ISLAND SONG is a poignant, off-beat dramedy with a kinetic pop-rock score (boasting 7 MAC-nominated songs), ISLAND SONG takes us through a year in the lives of five twenty-and-thirty-somethings sharing a city and the chain of surprising, poignant, and partially random connections that bring them into each other's spheres at moments that become pivotal. As the city pulses around them, they all must work through their own complex relationships with ambition, distraction, and the search for connection.

CASTING:
Seeking Chicagoland non-equity actor/singers, 18+. Roles are open to ALL genders and ethnicities. Must be comfortable learning music and lyrics virtually, singing tight harmonies, and self-filming from home.

CHARACTERS: ALL ROLES OPEN TO ALL ETHNICITIES

JORDAN, Late 20's. An ambitious, sexy lawyer. She works hard and plays hard. Deeply engrossed in a dysfunctional love affair with the city. Fiercely independent and reluctant to share her dreams with anyone but herself. (mezzo with a strong high mix-belt - roughly G3-E5)

CAROLINE, Early 20's. A free-spirited and low on ambition in the traditional sense. On a journey of self-exploration, eager to take it all in-which looks a lot like aimlessness amid the bustle of the city. Smart, well-read, her style is almost-alternative, boasting the requisite accouterments, without being fully committed. (mezzo - roughly G3-C5 (with a floated E5)

COOPER, Early 20's. An aspiring actor, earnest and driven. Left a small Midwestern town to pursue an acting dream. A bit of a loner, unpolished, but a true romantic. ( tenor - roughly C3-A4)

WILL, Late 20's. An Architect, Midwestern, sweet and less-than-slick. Taking the city on a test drive but a suburbanite at heart. (baritone or tenor - roughly B2-G#4)

SHOSHANA, Early 30's. Independently financially secure, driven by a need to fill the empty space if life and a deep desire to connect, but can't seem to get out of her own way. Lonely. A New York native-she speaks quickly. (soprano - roughly G3-F5)
