Broken Nose Theatre
Girl In The Red Corner

Pay: Stipend

Description:

Broken Nose Theatre is currently seeking main cast and understudies for roles in the Midwest Premiere of GIRL IN THE RED CORNER, by Stephen Spotswood. The production will be directed by Elizabeth Laidlaw. Please note that this is a movement-heavy show. We highly encourage unarmed stage combat certifications and actors with movement/dance/athletic training to audition. Additionally, all understudies have a guaranteed performance.

Unemployed and fresh from an abusive marriage, Halo steps into a gym one day and signs up for mixed martial arts lessons. Her family thinks it's ridiculous. Her trainer thinks she's soft. But none of them know the anger that fuels her ambition. When it's rage that brought you into the cage, are you really ready to see what winning looks like? GIRL IN THE RED CORNER is a visceral, fast-moving tale of self-discovery, one that allows women to take centerstage in a world so often dominated by men.

We are seeking the following main cast and understudy roles below:

HALO (seeking understudy only)
Female-Identifying. Caucasian. Late 20s - Early 30s. A bit of a punk in her youth; she's spent a decade working crap jobs for crap paychecks.

BRINN (seeking understudy only)
Female-Identifying. Caucasian. Halo's older sister; the planner, the fixer; old enough to have a 12-year old daughter.

GINA
Female-Identifying. Open Ethnicity. Late 20s - Early 30s. Halo's trainer; not a bit of wasted energy; she has feelings - she's just not going to show them to you.

TERRY
Female-Identifying. Caucasian. Halo and Brinn's mother; a former rough-and-tumble roadhouse girl; too many years working the checkout line have worn some edges away and sharpened others (also plays NANCY FROM HUMAN RESOURCES, GINA'S OPPONENT)

WARREN
Male-Identifying. Open Ethnicity. Brinn's husband; honestly trying to do the best for his family and to tread water in a busted economy (also plays KYLE, ANNOUNCER)
