Pay: Modest stipend for lead singers

Description:

The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company will be holding auditions for The Mikado at Goodspeed Hall, Univ. of Chicago, 1010 E 59th St., Chicago.

There are 7 prinicpal parts with modest stipends and a large mixed chorus.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, Inc. along with the University of Chicago Department of Music will present Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado at the University of Chicago's Mandel Hall, 1131 E. 57th Street, Chicago. Proceeds will benefit the Department of Music's performance program.

Auditions will be held on a first-come first-served basis.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals begin the last week in January. Sunday 2:00-5:00 whole cast. Principals Mon and Wed 7:30 to 10:00. Chorus Tue and Thur 7:30 to 10. All rehearsals at the Lab School on the U of C campus. Tech evenings 7-13 March. Three Performances Friday and Saturday March 12 and 13 at 8:00. Sunday March 14 at 2:00

Material To Prepare:

Auditionees are asked to prepare a musical number suitable for their voice part. Auditions will include one or more musical numbers from The Mikado along with dialogue reading.
