ShPIeL - Performing Identity is seeking Non-Equity Male and Female actors for their upcoming revival production of The Invasion of Skokie by Steven Peterson.
Morry Kaplan - Male, Lead, Early 50s
Sylvia Kaplan - Female, Morry's wife, early 50s
Howie Green - Male, Morry's sidekick, early 50s
Debbie Kaplan - Female, the daughter, late 20s
The play had a short run (very well reviewed) at Chicago Dramatists a few years ago, yet it was never done in Skokie, where this piece of Chicago and American history occurred. A family comedy-drama mix, the play is set against the historical backdrop of the Neo-Nazis' planned march in Skokie in 1978. It has themes of first amendment rights, honoring the memory of Holocaust survivors, the hate group phenomenon, and interfaith relationships.
