Kokandy Productions is holding auditions for The Great American Trailer Park Musical written by David Nehls and Betsy Kelso Directed by John D. Glover with Music Direction by Allison Hendrix.
The Great American Trailer Park Musical is a country-rock and blues musical, about agoraphobia, adultery, 80s nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, flan and disco. The musical comedy centers on a regular guy and his agoraphobic wife, whose marriage is threatened by a hot young stripper who just shows up one day in Armadillo Acres. The trailer park also plays home to a trio of women, each dysfunctional in her own right.
Character Breakdown:
NORBERT GARSTECKI: Male, mid 30s - mid 40s, out of shape, stocky, loveable southern redneck toll collector who is trying to get his wife to come out of their mobile home to celebrate their 20th anniversary. He is a high school football jock who fell in love with his Geometry tutor.
High Baritone.
DUKE: Male, mid to late 20s. The misfit long lost son of Jeannie and Norbert Garstecki. Duke is Pippi's obsessive, possessive, and excessive Magic Marker-sniffing boyfriend. Not the brightest guy south of the Mason-Dixon line, Duke initially appears to be a hoodlum, but once he's reunited with his parents, he is a puppy dog.
Rock Tenor.
JEANNIE GARSTECKI: Female, mid 30s - mid 40s, Norbert's agoraphobic housewife who hasn't been outside their mobile home since their loving son, Elvis, was kidnapped in front of Supercuts, while she was getting her hair done. Must be sweet and fragile, but strong when threatened.
High Belt/mix.
PIPPI: Female, mid 20s - mid 30s, the new girl in town and a stripper. She has had a hard life and been around the block several times. Sexy, lovable, and in great shape.
High Belt/mix.
BETTY: Female, 40 to early 50s, the manager of Armadillo Acres, North Florida's most exclusive manufactured housing community. She is very tough on the outside, with a heart of gold, and doesn't mind speaking her piece with anyone. She has her rules and is the only one who can break them.
Rough, Mid-range Belt.
LIN: Female, mid 30s - mid 40s, Betty's cohort. She has big hair and a big mouth. Her husband has been in the Florida State Prison for eight years and she does everything in her power to keep the prison's faulty electric chair from frying her husband.
High Belt/mix.
PICKLES: Female, 18 - mid 20s, Betty's cohort. Must be young and naive, but has also been around the block. Pickles is a typical dumb blonde who has hysterical pregnancies. She's married to a guy from Jacksonville (the hotspot of Florida) and loves him despite his faults.
High Belt/mix.
