City Lit Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for Disillusioned by Brynne Frauenhoffer and directed by Artistic Director Brian Pastor. This is a non-union production.

SHOW DESCRIPTION: Jordan and Kelsey meet as teenagers at Magic Camp and become inseparable friends, but a moment of betrayal leads to a decades-long falling out. Now in their 30s, with Jordan an established, but struggling magician, and Kelsey a recent divorcee, they reunite in ways both tender and explosive. When the stakes are at their highest, this time-hopping, queer romance asks if old wounds can be healed with the help of a little Chicago stage magic?

JORDAN: Actor plays this character from age 18 through 30s, seeking actors aged 30+. A goth teen who keeps rebranding herself as she pursues a career in magic. Never as successful as she would have hoped. Can be harsh, but it comes from caring a lot. Butch, ambitious, competitive, hardworking.

KELSEY: Actors plays this character from age 17 through 30s, seeking actors aged 30+. Wholesome and earnest as a teen; those qualities never totally go away even if she fights them. As an adult, her sense of self is hard-won. Passionate, tender-hearted, brave.

ISABEL: Actors plays this character from age 24 through 30s, seeking actors aged 30+. Majored in dance, minored in Gender Studies; she's probably a Gemini. She's so easy to crush on. Magnetic, quick-witted, intellectual.

CELIA: Actor plays this character from 40s through 60s. She might not be famous to the general public, but she's a legend among other magicians; a trailblazer in her time. Glamorous, driven, direct to a fault.

GREG: Actor plays this character from age 17 through 30s, seeking actors aged 30+. A pretentious teen (he'd probably wear a fedora at camp), goes through a major glow-up but remains a dork about magic. Charismatic, kind.

CAL: Male, 50s-60s. Career magician turned producer/booker. Has paternal moments, but also a low threshold for bullshit. Industry veteran, tough love, later-in-life girl dad.
