Character Breakdown:
WADSWORTH (Male, 30+)
A traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and "by the book." He is the driving force in the play. Manipulative, charismatic and of high intelligence. Possible British accent required.
MISS SCARLET (Female, 25+)
A dry, sardonic D.C. madam who is interested in secrets. Miss Scarlet is described as a beautiful, forthright, self-confident yet dangerous woman who has her own agenda, who can get what she wants by fair means or foul, and knows how to sweet-talk herself out of trouble. Really smart and really in charge; runs a very successful business; albeit a little nefarious. She is in control of her life as she sees it.
MRS PEACOCK (Female, 40+)
The churchgoing wife of a senator, who has been accused of taking bribes for her husband. Very concerned with outward appearances and propriety. A bit batty, neurotic, reactive and quick to hysteria.
MRS WHITE (Female, 40+)
A pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands. Has a white-hot temper. Stoic, intelligent and dangerous.
COLONEL MUSTARD (Male, 45+)
A puffy, pompous, dense military man. Behind his medals of honor are rumors of black market deals and treasons; rumors that he's been paying off to keep secret for far too long. Likes women but doesn't know how to talk to them. Mustard could also be an example of the miles gloriosus, a stock character known for his military experience and dubious claims of grandeur. A high-ranking military official and repeatedly attempts to take charge in various situations, but is generally incompetent and rarely actually does anything.
PROFESSOR PLUM (Male, 25+)
An academic Casanova - sleazy and suggestive. Says he's a psychiatrist working the World Health Organization. His medical license was revoked after it was discovered that he slept with one of his patients. Arrogant and easily impressed by himself.
MR GREEN (Male, 25+)
A timid, yet officious, rule follower. He's a bit of a klutz and awfully anxious. Revealed as FBI agent so must have ability to contrast character.
YVETTE (Female, 20+)
A French maid with her own secret aspirations. Was once an informant for Mr. Boddy and has previous connections to some of the guests. Yvette, at first glance, has refined mannerisms and appears innocent and flirtatious, but it's nothing more than a fa?ade; as the night progresses, she is shown to be less innocent as she first appeared. French accent required.
ENSEMBLE (2-3 actors of various ages/genders to play the following)
THE COOK, a gruff individual with a threatening presence. (Alive and Dead.)
SINGING TELEGRAM GIRL, a cute, perky tap dancer (Alive and Dead).
AUXILIARY SCARLET & WADSWORTH, doubles for theatrical trickery.
THE MOTORIST, a benign player who rings the wrong door- bell. (Alive and Dead.)
FBI AGENT who helps to save the day.
MR. BODDY, a slick, James Bond-type/film-noir-esque. A McCarthyist blackmailing each of the suspects because he deems them ?un-American" (Alive and Dead.)
THE COP, a "Regular Joe" (Alive and Dead)
AUXILIARY MUSTARD & WADSWORTH, doubles for theatrical trickery.
