Oil Lamp Theater is seeking submissions for strong actors for its production of Dear Jack, Dear Louise written by Ken Ludwig. Elizabeth Mazur Levin, Oil Lamp Theater's Artistic Director, will direct.

Dear Jack, Dear Louise
U.S. Army Captain Jack Ludwig, a military doctor stationed in Oregon, begins writing to Louise Rabiner, an aspiring actress and dancer in New York City, hoping to meet her someday if the war will allow. But as the war continues, it threatens to end their relationship before it even starts (Concord Theatricals).

JACK LUDWIG (he/him)- late 20s-mid 30s, Jewish, an army doctor stationed in Oregon during WWII. Jack is reserved and more comfortable initially with facts than feelings but later reveals warmth and wit.

LOUISE RABINER (she/her)-mid 20s-early 30s, Jewish, an aspiring actress and dancer in NYC. Louise is bold, confident, funny, and deeply vulnerable.

Rehearsals will begin Monday, December 7 and are typically held from 7:00-10:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings and on Saturdays from 10:00am-1:00pm until tech which begins on Saturday, February 6. Note: There will be no rehearsals 12/20/26-1/8/27.

Initial auditions will be INVITE ONLY and will be held at Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview on Sunday, October 4, 2026 beginning at 7pm.

Compensation will be $1,200 This includes a $150 rehearsal stipend and $30 per performance (35 performances total).

Compensation for Understudies is $530 and includes one guaranteed performance. Understudies will be paid $30 per performance for each additional show performed. Understudies must attend a minimum of two rehearsals and one performance a week and be at all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and previews.
