Theatre L'Acadie is thrilled to be accepting submissions for our upcoming Chicago Premiere of This Dry Spell by Keegon Schuett, directed by Brandii Champagne. We are seeking 7 actors and 7 understudies. L'Acadie is highly encouraging BIPOC, LGBTQA+, non-binary, and actors of all abilities to apply.

SYNOPSIS:
At a music festival in the desert, Grace kisses Brahm, a man who confesses he's here to become a cactus. Drawn to the strange beauty of this unlikely romance, Grace uproots their life to follow him, hoping their connection might bloom into an oasis in a harsh world. Grace fights against their skeptical mother, Linda, an OnlyFans creator who thinks they're settling, and the unwanted advances of Jeremy, their boss. Even Grace's art students demand answers about life and love. As Brahm grows ever more rooted and thorny, Grace wrestles with desire, doubt, and what it means to truly bloom.

*Understudies will be cast for every role*

Actors will receive a $325 stipend. Understudies will receive a $200 stipend. Understudies will have one guaranteed performance. Theatre L'Acadie will also offer a complimentary headshot session with our company photographer as a Thank You for your work! Theatre L'Acadie believes in pay transparency and pays all artists equitably based on a tiered system. All Theatre L'Acadie performances are Pay-What-You-Can, to keep theatre accessible to all.

CALLBACKS ARE OCTOBER 18th - 10:00 - 1:00 and 6:00 - 10:00. Actors who are offered a callback will be given a time slot - while some actors may be asked to stay longer, no one will be required to attend the entire callback session. Callbacks will be at the Lycee Francais Center for the Arts (4702 N Ravenswood Ave)
