ABOUT THE PLAY
Henrik Ibsen's Little Eyolf follows Alfred and Rita Allmers, a married couple whose troubled relationship and competing desires are transformed by a devastating family tragedy. As grief exposes long-held resentments, jealousies, and secrets, the play examines marriage, parenthood, responsibility, desire, and the possibility of rebuilding a life after loss. ROLES FOR CONSIDERATION:
Eyolf ("Little Eyolf"): Alfred and Rita's nine-year-old son. He has beautiful, intelligent eyes and a paralyzed right leg, the result of a fall from a table when he was an infant.

Rita Allmers: Late 20's - early 30's. A wealthy, passionate, and fiercely jealous wife. She possesses an intense, consuming sensuality and demands her husband Alfred's absolute, undivided attention. She views her son and sister-in-law Asta as rivals for Alfred's affection, driving a deep wedge of resentment and shared guilt into the household.

Asta Allmers: Alfred's younger companion, officially treated as his half-sister. She is gentle, serious, and deeply devoted to Alfred, sharing a secretive childhood bond with him. She serves as an emotional anchor in the household and a foil to Rita's fiery temperament before choosing to build her own future.

Borghejm: A confident, energetic road builder. He acts as a foil to Alfred's academic paralysis, representing practical labor, forward momentum, and healthy vitality. He pursues Asta and offers her an honest, outward-looking life away from the stagnant grief of the Allmers estate.
