Towle Theater is seeking Non-Equity adult & youth actors/singers for A Christmas Carol, adapted and directed by Jim LaPietra. Actively seeking all identities, races, and ethnicities for all roles.

Published in 1843, Charles Dickens' story follows Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold, greedy miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and three spirits-the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. These visions show Scrooge his faults, transforming him into a generous, kind-hearted man.

Character Descriptions:
All actors, with the exception of Scrooge, will play multiple roles as well as narrate the story. We're seeking performers with a bold stage presence and a firm grasp on creative storytelling. In reference to the character descriptions below - most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following descriptions. But however limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive as possible as we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and non-binary actors to submit for roles they most identify with. We are seeking all races and ethnicities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

TRACK 1 - SCROOGE (Male-identifying to portray 40s-60s)
A miserly businessman who is visited by his deceased business partner and three spirits on Christmas Eve.

TRACK 2 - BOB CRATCHIT (Male-identifying to portray 30s-50s)
Scrooge's long-suffering clerk, a kind and gentle man, devoted to his family, especially his son, Tiny Tim. Also part of the ensemble.

TRACK 3 - CHRISTMAS PRESENT (Any gender to portray 30s-60s)
The embodiment of Christmas - merry, jovial, spreading cheer throughout the world, but not afraid to be stern - shows Scrooge what he is missing in his present life. Also plays Charity 1, Mr. Fezziwig, Old Joe.

TRACK 4 - BELLE (Female-Identifying to portray late teens-early 20s)
Scrooge's former fiancee, who comes to realize that he cares for his money more than he cares for her. Also plays Belinda Cratchit, Fred's Wife, Laundress.

Track 5 - APPRENTICE SCROOGE (Male-identifying to portray late teens-early 20s)
Scrooge's former self before he became cold and cynical, but showing the first signs of those traits. Also plays Charity 2, Peter Cratchit.

Track 6 - MARLEY'S GHOST (Any gender to portray 30s-60s)
Scrooge's deceased business partner, regretful of lost opportunities, who arrives to give Scrooge a chance at redemption. Also plays Gentleman 1, ensemble.

Track 7 - MRS. CRATCHIT (Female-identifying to portray 30s-50s)
The warm but stern wife of Bob Cratchit, who isn't afraid to address Scrooge's shortcomings. Also plays Mrs. Fezziwig, Mrs. Dilber.

Track 8 - NEPHEW FRED (Any gender to portray 20s-30s)
Scrooge's nephew, good natured, jovial, takes Scrooge's insults and rejection with good humor and patience. Also plays Christmas Past, Gentleman 2.

TRACK 9 - TINY TIM (Any gender, youth performer, or adult to portray a child)
Bob Cratchit's sickly child - a sweet child who loves his father and family very much. Also plays Caroler, Boy Scrooge, Ignorance.

TRACK 10 - FAN, (Female-identifying, youth performer, or adult to portray a child)
Scrooge's sister and Fred's mother, who died before the events of the play. Also plays Martha Cratchit, Want, Turkey Boy.
