Backyard Theatre Company is seeking actors for a staged reading of #darlings by Kendall Grenolds, directed by Amy Stapenhorst. Synopsis and character breakdowns are below. Compensation for this project includes a stipend plus a portion of ticket sales, divided among the team.

Synopsis:
Meet the #darlings: Victoria, Cleo, Cassie, and Sammy, devoted members of musician heartthrob Caleb Darling's fan club. At Darling Club, they discuss, defend, and obsess over everything Caleb, until one day, three of them are invited to his secret album release listening party. As the night unfolds, the girls' friendships are tested when they realize Caleb may not be the person they believed him to be. #darlings is a coming-of-age play about the friendships that shape us, parasocial relationships, and the parts of ourselves we compromise when our identity becomes tied to someone else.

Available Roles:
VICTORIA - Fifteen. The most devoted to Caleb.

SAMMY - Fifteen. Soft-spoken, wise beyond her years, conflict-avoidant, but always trying to do the right thing. Jewish.

CASSIE - Fifteen. Learning how to follow her own path. A fan of Caleb in the way teenagers often become deeply attached to something before they know where to place all that passion.

CLEO - Sixteen. Trying her best. Her friends are almost all she has.
