Janus Theatre Company seeks understudies to cover one or multiple tracks for its spring production of An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, adapted and directed by Sean Hargadon.

The production runs at the New Elgin Art Showcase, 220 Dupage Street, downtown Elgin, IL, 60120. The production runs May 8- 24.

Stipend: $100 for single track. $150 for multiple tracks. Guaranteed performance on Saturday, May 23 at 2pm. Guaranteed understudy rehearsals May 2, 13, 20, including open rehearsals.

Seeking male actors (50s) to cover these two tracks:
Dr. Thomas Stockmann: Medical Officer of the Municipal Baths. Energetic, intelligent, loves his work and can be stubborn. A champion of the truth. 50s.

Peter Stockmann: Thomas's older brother, Mayor of the town, and Chairman of the Municipal Baths. A shrewd politician with a sense of self-importance. Serious, practical, resourceful. 50s.

Seeking male actors (30s) to cover these two tracks:
Hovstad: Editor of the local paper, The People's Herald. Part of the younger generation wanting change. Cute, likable, but sharp in opinion and has an edge. Knows how to adapt to the room he's in. Comes from humble beginnings (poor) but not afraid to challenge/needle the older generation. 30s.

Billing: Reporter for the The People's Herald and another young mind looking to topple the establishment. Outgoing, crafty, and always looking for the next thing. 30s.
