In this moment of political tension and uncertainty, we believe artists hold a powerful responsibility - and a powerful gift.

Our voices.

We are seeking 12 performers for a one-night cabaret responding to our current political climate. This is a space for truth, resistance, hope, solidarity, grief, rage, and radical joy. Should we receive overwhelming submissions, we might reach out for future projects.

This cabaret will raise funds for ICIRR (Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights).

We highly encourage POC, LGBTQIA+, and non-binary performers to submit. We are committed to equitable casting and encourage performers to audition for whatever roles they feel connected to, regardless of gender identity, race/ethnicity, sexuality, age, or ability status.

To note: The venue stage is 1 foot from the entrance.

Pieces should reflect themes of:
Justice
Human rights
Resistance
Community
Hope in the face of adversity
The lived impact of political systems

Submission Requirements:

Please submit an unlisted YouTube video of the following:
A video performing a 32-bar cut of the song you would like to perform OR

A 1-2 minute video performing or explaining the piece you'd like to present

In your submission, briefly include:
Your name and pronouns
The piece you're proposing
Whether or not you will be using our accompaniment or providing your own
Technical Needs required if any (The space provides a mic, a piano, a guitar with an amp)
Why does it speak to this moment

Compensation:
$10 compensation
You may choose to accept it or donate it back to ICIRR.

Important Details:
12 performers total
Split into two acts (6 performers per act)
Each piece should not exceed 5 minutes
Rehearsal details will be shared upon casting
