Pay: Stipend

Description:

Magnified Gift is accepting submissions for consideration for our upcoming November production of The Good, The Bad and The Confused.

"The Good, The Bad, and The Confused," is a play that follows a young woman battling with the direction in her life. Her best friend steps in to help her find a solution to her problems by presenting the Bible to her. As the young woman learns about The Women of the Bible, she gains the strength to defeat her weaknesses. The audience will follow the young woman's transformation through a collection of monologues.

Characters:

Benita (Female, mid-20s) - A thoughtful, emotionally vulnerable graduate student caught in a morally complicated relationship with a married man. Intelligent and sincere, she begins the play stressed and conflicted, but through reflection and spiritual exploration, she grows toward clarity, self-awareness, and faith. Her arc moves from confusion to hope and personal transformation.

Marie (Female, mid-20s to early 30s) - Benita's best friend and moral compass. Warm, honest, and grounded in her faith, Marie is supportive but direct, offering tough love when needed. She introduces Benita to the stories of women in the Bible and encourages her toward self-worth, wisdom, and spiritual growth.

Delilah - A woman who betrays Samson for money by discovering the secret of his strength and revealing it to his enemies. She represents manipulation, temptation, and the consequences of betrayal.

Jezebel - A powerful but corrupt queen who promotes evil, rejects God, and influences others to do wrong. She represents pride, control, and the destructive use of influence.

Sapphira - A woman who agrees with her husband to lie to God about money they donated. Her story represents dishonesty and the serious consequences of deception.

Job's Wife - A grieving, broken woman who tells her husband to curse God after losing everything. She represents despair, emotional weakness, and later regret for losing faith during hardship.

Potiphar's Wife - A jealous woman who attempts to seduce Joseph and, when rejected, lies about him out of spite. She represents temptation, false accusation, and the consequences of selfish desire.

Woman 1 (from Solomon's judgment) - The true mother who proves her love by being willing to give up her child to save his life. She represents selfless love, sacrifice, and genuine motherhood.

Esther - A courageous queen who risks her life to speak up for her people. She represents bravery, wisdom, and trusting God's purpose.

Lot's Wife - A woman who disobeys God's warning by looking back at her sinful past and is turned into a pillar of salt. She represents attachment to the past and the consequences of disobedience.
