No Dogs in the Kitchen Theatre Company is seeking 10- to 15-minute plays from Chicago-area playwrights for its One-Act Workshop, a staged play reading series held in the spring of 2026.

Submissions are open until November 30, 2025 at 11:59pm, or until 250 scripts are received. Playwrights will be notified of their submission status by January 18, 2026. This is an unpaid opportunity.

Submission details:
Chicago-area playwrights preferred.
Previously produced plays are welcome.
Up to two submissions per playwright.
No musicals.
Scripts can be 8 to 15 pages long.
No identifying information in the script document, please!

We're especially interested in plays with:
Minimal set requirements
Strong roles for actors in their twenties and thirties
Absurd / dark comedy elements
