The Joliet Drama Guild announces auditions for our upcoming production of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, adapted by Christopher Sergel.

Auditions will be held 11/24 and 11/25 from 7-10pm at Joliet Bicentennial Park Theatre, 201 w Jefferson st, Joliet Illinois. Callbacks will be held 11/26 by invitation only. If you are not able to attend auditions please contact director Austin Jones at aljones923147@gmail.com to arrange a video audition.

Please prepare a 30-60 second monologue and be prepared to do some cold reading. Sign up for a time slot using the link below. We will be holding callbacks on Wednesday if needed.

Character breakdown:
(Note: all character ages and gender identities are listed as they appear in the text, we welcome anyone to audition for any part.)

Ponyboy - The youngest Curtis brother, 14 years old, gets good grades and runs track early teens, a greaser.

Johnny - Ponyboy's best friend, 16 years old, extremely quiet, lives with his alcoholic and abusive parents.

Bob - A soc, 18 years old, Cherry's boyfriend, bestfriends with Randy.

Randy- A soc, 18 years old, Bob's bestfriend, Marcia's boyfriend.

Dallas - A 17-year-old juvenile delinquent, the roughest of the greasers, close with Johnny.

Two-Bit - 18 years old, a greaser, wisecracker, likes Marcia.

Darry - The oldest Curtis brother, 20 years old, has been caring for his brothers since their parents died in a car crash.

Sodapop - The middle Curtis brother, 16 years old, high school dropout, works at a gas station, dating Sandy.

Sandy - 16 years old, Sodapop's former girlfriend.

Cherry - A soc, 16 years old, Bob's girlfriend, befriend's Ponyboy and Johnny, bestfriends with Marcia.

Marcia - A soc, 16 years old, Randy's girlfriend, befriends Two-Bit, Cherry's bestfriend.

Mrs. O'Briant - Member of the burnt down church.

Jerry - Member of the burnt down church.

Time Commitment:

Show dates are Jan 23-25 and Jan 30-Feb 1st.
Rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 6:00-9:00 and Mon-Thursday during tech week.
