Description:

[title of show] Open Call Auditions
By Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell
Directed by Jason Fleece

Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try to create something new. Eventually, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. They make a pact to write up until the festival's deadline and dream about the show changing their lives. In the span of 90 minutes, they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists.

Roles:

Hunter: Male presenting, 20s-30s, tenor (C3-B4 (Belt) with (D5 Falsetto) - Hunter is the author of the book. Larger than life yet somewhat directionless, he often needs both prompting and reigning in.

Jeff: Male presenting, 20s-30s, tenor (Range: B2-G4 (Belt) with (B4 Falsetto)) - Jeff is the composer of the musical. Jeff is resistant to Hunter's literal flights of wild abandon, more often than not offering sharp rebukes.

Heidi: Female presenting, 20s-30s, mezzo-soprano (Range: F3-F5) - Heidi is the established performer of the group and a Broadway veteran. Her friendly awkwardness is endearing.

Susan: Female presenting, 20s-30s, mezzo-soprano (Range: E3 - C5 (comically up to F/Gb5) - Susan has a loud, flamboyant attitude and madcap wit.
