Grizel is a comic play that jumps between different worlds based on the very real story of a woman who set up Ireland's first volunteer based hospital in the 1500's but is remembered as having the face of a pig. The show addresses the absurdity of rumours and a battle against them.
Auditions will be held at the Playground Theater (4416 N Clark St) on Sunday, November 9th - audition slots will be offered by invite after receiving a resume & headshot.
The show will be performed at The Edge Theatre (5451 N Broadway) mainstage and will open March 17, 2026 and close March 21, 2026.
Pay Rate: Profit share with a stipend of at least 100
Character Breakdown:
Grizel - Female presenting, 30+, any ethnicity.
Ensemble (looking for 4) - Any age, gender and ethnicity. These actors will switch between multiple characters during the show.
Although this show is an Irish writer we are in the land of beautiful absurd theatre so accents are not necessary (though may be useful for ensemble members to switch between characters, this is only to the digression of the performer to their strong suits).
